College Bound
Attending college can be an
exciting and enriching experience. It can also be a costly one.
In addition to tuition, fees, books, and supplies, other
expenses to think about include room and board, health
insurance, transportation, and spending money. As part of
Piedmont’s continuing effort to support and encourage young
people to be the very best and to do their very best in the 21st
century, the scholarship program was started.

The program, known as the
College Bound Scholarship Program, began in 1998. Since
Piedmont’s mission is to provide community service and outreach,
it was clear that the scholarship should represent the same. The
scholarship is a nonrenewable award of $300.00 offered to a
deserving high school senior entering a four year accredited
institution. The award is disbursed in late September for
miscellaneous expenses.
The scholarship is currently offered to seniors attending Staunton River High School in Bedford County and the Rustburg, Brookville, Altavista and William Campbell High Schools in Campbell County. Each year, the scholarship committee reviews dozens of applications. This has proven to be a most difficult task because the applicants are some of the smartest and brightest students that the schools have to offer. It is not unusual for us to receive the number one, two and three rank of a class from the same school.
